+/- Collectibles are okay, but mostly because you can do 'dates' with specific girls that show collectible locations on the map instead of putting you through the tedium of running around and finding them yourself or needing to google a map + Races are fun enough and do just enough mixing of vehicle types to keep things interesting The gun ones tend to be even more ridiculous since they spawn new enemies directly behind you. Drug busts are repetitive, as again it's just the same thing copied and pasted again and again. Cop jobs are repetitive and is just the same 3-4 jobs copied and pasted all over the map + Same goes for cases, and they're much bigger in size and scope! + Favours are varied and fun and basically work as mini-missions Unbalanced levelling systems, as Face and Cop XP is plentiful and too easy to get to the max level whereas Triad XP is too difficult Fast travel system is oddly limited since you can only do it via taxis, so the option just disappears if you're in an area without one Map system has issues like struggling to tell you whether the thing you marked on the map is above or below you There's also the amusing feature of having a dedicated 'ram' button to attack other cars, which is arcadey and fun + Driving takes some time to get used to but actually has a surprising amount of depth, like using braking to swerve around corners or to do immediate U-turns, which was a pleasant surprise. But the gun system is awkward since they deliberately make it very difficult for you to hold on to a gun, and often times take it away from you altogether even when you do have one on you + Melee combat is satisfying, especially when you learn more and more moves and strengthen your arsenal The environments look good but the character models are poor. Unskippable cutscenes which makes replays less fun This game is good, really good.īut again, I'm not going to talk about the story because it may spoil. The character progression in this game is up there with Deus Ex too. The side missions are funny, and all are unique in their own way, some even feel like they've gotten the main story-line treatment of care. I love a good Arkham brawl, but it's mostly just button mashing and countering, this game's combat is a martial arts simulator.
Sleeping Dogs does combat so well it is up there with the Arkham series, and in my opinon does combat greater than the Arkham series combat feels real, not button mashing. There are firefights, and they are awesome, but mostly hand-to-hand combat.
The game play is smooth, the slow motion shooting adds another level of game play to keep it fresh and exciting.īut the combat is mostly hand-to-hand combat. But I can't talk about the story without potential spoilers. The story is more than what you'd expect from a really good movie.
Story-wise, it's at a level you don't see much in games. One of the best games ever made, up there with Deus Ex (2000)
